FINAL EXAM
Question: What would you tell an incoming freshman about ENC 1101 and/or ENC 1102? What would you suggest that they do to prepare for and succeed in these classes? What do you wish you had known?
I would let the freshman know that it is definitely more writing then they are going to have done before. At least for me high school we barely did any papers. I suggest that they make sure to read the stories that are assigned because at first i would put them off and not read them and then i realized i had to do a paper on them and i was behind. I wish i knew it was going to be both reading and writing i just picture a composition class on writing not reading. But once you start you realize it is not so bad you just have to get the hang of things. With a new college course that you have never taken before, it is going to be weird to get use to a new writing teacher.
the after life
In Joan Didums reading i realized that she seems very sad. It is a very interesting story, but it is sad at the same time. It is very true that when dramatic stuff like that happens time is different than what it really is. She thought the whole time the paramedics was at her house it was 40ish mins but she looked back in the listing of when they got there and when they left and it was only 15-20 mins. I think this reading shows you what goes on in dramatic times that you do not realize. Like that lightbulb that was off in the elevator she didnt even notice. I understand where she is coming from, my mom passed away from breast cancer and throughout the 8 year battle she would go through seizures once a blue moon, but they happened. And i remember the paramedics coming to my house during dinner when she had a seizure just like they did. I remember it until this day, and i remember it felt like a long time, i was not suppose to be watching what was going on so i had to go to my room and it felt like a lifetime knowing my mom was not okay and i was just stuck in the room. When they ended up leaving it felt like an hour later, who knows it was probably only 20 mins or so. When things like that happen your not focused on anythng but what is going on. It was such a shock that she couldnt even say goodbye. I wonder if he really did know he was going to die since a week or two before he told her to write a little quote about death on the note card. It is very weird. But it was very sad story.
